Post # 10: Challenges in your discipline

Public Administration will be an important career to change many things in the country, and because this we need to be connected with other disciplines: Technology, Economic and Social Matters, Education, etcetera.

The technology challenge can be, in the short time, to teach responsibly about all the new technologies, specifically in the informatic area. The evidence about the deterioration to the child competence, with computers (or television too), it is clear and alarming.

In relation to Social Matter, the challenge must be in the people mind and heart, in other words, they must get the autonomic idea out of their heads and put on love, fidelity and truth. Maybe this phrase is “hippie”, but we need to bring to the arena these things and to make better this country.

In relation to the education, we need to professionalize the Public Administration, in other words, to give a professional character or status to this function and because it all the country must be favored. The mechanisms of public employment professionalisation constitute one of the most important dimensions in Chile and Latin America. But, in this kind, we need to change other things, like admission to university. Students can choose between 25 state universities and over 50 private ones, but the admission test maybe terrible: the PSU. There are poorer students, mostly coming from public schools, and more wealthy students, specially those coming from private schools, therefore, poorer students have much smaller chances to enter the most prestigious universities, which hold high entry scores.

To be employed at the administracíon is a challenge and, because of it, I study this career. I believe that I can manage to do many things for my country. I love very much this country and his citizens and I would like to see that they live in love and truth, which sustenance and a good education could deliver to his children.

All things are possible, if also this things are goods.

The Government School

First, I want to make it clear that this place isn’t a faculty: The Government School depends of the INAP (Public Affaires Institute), and then of the University of Chile.

The Government School has many things to improve, because in older times this building was a palace, a house in the center of Santiago. It was built in 1875. The Palace is beautiful, said the exchange people, but, the Chilean students want to be at a remodeled place. The Government School needs TO BE a University with a lot of grass and trees, and sun too!

Specifically, we need in this building a rest place (with sofas) or a sport place (with baby-football field or exercise machines). On in other hand, it’s necessary to have all the professors near to the students.

Related to the environment, we need while preserving the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present, but also for future generations: a sustainable development, related with the electricity and recycling.

We need a big place to make these changes, and maybe we will go to the Chemistry Faculty in Vicuña Mackenna Street, and make our dreams come true. The “Public Affaires Faculty” can be a pioneer in Latin America with careers like a Public Management, Political Science and International Relationships.

We need to support the School cause. For example, it’s necessary to paint the front of the palace, or to clean our bathrooms.

Almolonga Village in Guatemala

Well, I would like to go to Guatemala (a country in Central America) because is a beautiful place to visit: culture, biodiversity, geography and her people principally.

I don't know very much the country, but I know Guatemala City is home to many of the nation's libraries and museums.

I believe than Almolonga Village, in Quetzaltenango (a department from Guatemala) is the best place to visit: The village is known as the "Vegetable Basket of the Americas" (la Hortaliza de América) due to an intense cultivation of vegetables in its vicinity.

I would like to speak with Harold Caballeros, a presidential candidate, and his advisor team: it could be beneficial for my life and Chile too. In this country the protestantism has increased markedly in recent decades in this country: more than one third of Guatemalans are protestant and this is an event worth seeing.

If God wishes, the trip would be to know, to share with my brothers and to work for the God’s Kingdom.

Lion Of Judah (Corrected because Blogger erased part of the text)

I do not like the classic pieces of art, for what I chose a contemporary painting.

This piece of art is called “The Lion Of Judah”and the artist is Ana Mendez Ferrell. Is an Oil on Canvas.

The common paintings demonstrate sadness and not very agreeable states of mind; this painting not, since it delivers something special: it is done by people of God, for what it shows kindness, love and safety.

This picture represents the Army Of Light rising from the mountains, like the prophet Joel describes. Their strength is in the Lord and the Lion Of Judah fights for them. I like this painting because is really awesome!

When the end approaches, the leaders and kingdoms going to hear the Lion of Judah, in all his brilliance.

“Hear the sound of the Lion of Judah

See the fire and the fear in the enemy’s camp

From the sound of the Lion of Judah roaring again”.

Ideal job

Maybe this post can be a prophetic reason in my life! I do not know it now, but in God’s hands is my life!

Since it is an ideal work, I will consider the possibility of being employed at the central government, that´s mean, working with the president of Chile (but, why not to be a president?).Being employed at the government allows influence in society and for this way constructs a better country.

One of the most necessary thing to survive there are tools. I think that the main difficulty is have the character necessary to develop well in governmental work.

Anyway, this work necessarily must have to work with people. For it, it is necessary have a decisive character, attitude and a lot of energies, since "the leader is leading always ".

In addition it is good to have an equipment around, since these will be able to advise me when I need it, beside giving me the necessary support for a great mission.

I think that I can be in a work like it. Since I have strained for being a complete person. In addition, there is one on me that is bigger than all.

Anyhow, we still have time for all these.

The education: Ken Robinson

Ken Robinson said “The creativity is very important in education”. This phrase is fundamental in his speech. The students need activity plays, since your life will be determined largely by your formation. In the current Informational Age (s.XXI), encouraging creativity and helping our children to think differently can help them a lot.

The schools don’t reforce the artistic area. “The people say that you are sick if you want to be a dancer”.

I surprised his expression on having said that in all the parts of the world there was a priority order for the education: mathematics and languages, humanities and arts. Inside the above mentioned the music is on the dance, why does this happen?

He said some phrases as: “You must not say ‘you are mistaken!’ but ‘you are creative!’” (This way, the person is not stigmatized to the mistake), “The creation is a way that never finishes”, “We need creative professors in the university”. This phrases are extraordinary: really they show the quality of the speech!.

I think that his ideas are very coherent with the reality: Really the children have a meta, or it will be that first his parents must have it?. The problem is in the vision that the persons have of the education and which will be the intention for which they are going to be educated.

Martin Luther King

I think Martin Luther King was a good political leader, because he accepted the leadership of the first great Negro nonviolent demonstration of contemporary times in the United States; and to do it, it is necessary have a very big conviction and motivation.

He made a difference in the government area, because he inspired the Negro revolution in peace!! King traveled over six million miles and spoke over twenty-five hundred times (!!!), appearing wherever there was injustice.

In a peaceful march on Washington D.C., with 250,000 people observing, he delivered his famous speech: "l Have a Dream" (In the picture, Luther King delivering his speech).

I like the phrase: “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal”. Martin is an example, not only for the American people, but for the following generations.

In addition, Luther King was named Man of the Year by Time magazine in 1963 and at the age of thirty-five, he was the youngest man to have received the Nobel Peace Prize. Lamentably, he was assassinated on the evening of April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee.

Correction Post

I like this picture. It was taken on November 21 of last year, at about 19:35 p.m. (still I remember).

Here there are my friends: some friends I met several years ago (such as the bald man with lenses that is Hernán) and others i met more recently (such as the boy with a cap, nicknamed Pipo). They all have been a great benediction to my life.

This photo has history, rarely we extract ours photos in group, but this day I took my camera and it was very good, since i got very pretty photos stayed for the recollection. But, in this case, who took the photo? I don't know! But he or she was someone who was walking with us.

This photo was taken in Serrano street, in the "Universidad de Chile" station, in the downtown of Santiago.

I like this picture because these people are real. People who one can trust. Regardless of the hour or the place, they will help you. All the time.

Those, who are they? I will name them in order from left side to right, and top to bottom: Cristina, Rocío, Macarena, Pipo, Jose, Jesús, Rodrigo, Hernán, me, Sarai and Natalia.

Public Management

Public administration is a multidisciplinary field, because has very much theories and concepts from economics, political science, sociology, administrative law, management, and a range of related fields. Is really funny! I like the major, but the work probably present many limitations that they prevent the freedom and multiplicity that yes exists in the years of study in the School of Government and Management Publishes (in the Chilean University). Of all forms, it is not a great problem: the mayor is challenging, forms leaders of the tomorrow (this is the idea!).

The objective to the career is form a new generation of policy makers, policy analysts and public service professionals able to operate effectively in political contexts, and in highly internationalized societal and economic settings to generate and successfully execute policy solutions for the most critical emerging problems of our times. This idea presents a big challenge, for which it is necessary "to train" the students in order that, when they work, they do it as best as possible.

I do not have a favorite subject, but those who have analysis and social history I have liked very much.

Responses Plataforma activities

Well. I don't like the article in the website http://www.health24.com/Man/Life_stages/748-793-830,23742.asp , because the page thinks that the people does not take care of his body.

In my case, I try to eat recover and without delicacies. I do an exercise in the university: volleyball. In addition, in the subway I try to raise always the fixed stairs.

I still must improve my habits to , sometimes I do not sleep very much and my body asks me to do it... but I try to do Proverb 23:2 "And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite".

Good Website!!!

I enjoy visiting a web site called www.porminacion.org , because it is a useful page to clarify principles base of our life and this way to define also public policies of basic character.

I visit this page since one year ago because one friend, called Javier, studies History and he visited this page for his career. He recommend me this page and theirs books… I only read one book, but it is awesome!

When I visited this web, I founded some articles and themes over the family, the state and the church… I like this!

Also, in the web, I found a link to other website: Providence Foundation. This organization has a desire: “Training and Networking Leaders to Transform Nations”. And it is the same desire that it possesses www.porminacion.org.

This page is from the country of Guatemala, and their creator is Francisco Bianchi Castillo. He lamentably died last year.

Favourite piece of technology: TOASTER

My favourite piece of technology is the electrical toaster.

When the toaster came to my house, behind two years ago, because my mom bought it in the mall (or in the market, I don’t remember), we (my family) begin to eat very much bread: the electrical toaster is better than the manual, because it is more rapid (more expensive… but anyway!) , and the bread remains better.

I use the electrical toaster almost every day in my breakfast, because this piece is rapid and I go to the university in the morning.

The toaster is great! It is a very important invention in the gastronomy and facilitates the snack foods in the home… Santiago needs more toasters in his houses!

But the toaster isn’t complete, because not serve to toast entire sandwiches… And in this topic I stop: If you put big bread in the toaster, the toaster will die. That it would do if this was happening? Only to return to the manual toaster, and to be pensiente that the bread is not burned!
